# Japanese Class Synopsis - 2025-11-06

This week, we covered the following topics:

残念 -> ざんねん -> Sad, disappointed, but not that serious. More like "its to bad". な Adj.
区域 ->  くいき -> Congregation Territory (Noun)
慣れる -> なれる -> To get Used to (Verb)
我慢強い -> がまんづよい -> Patient
忍耐-> にんたい -> Patient (as in patience from God)
心開く-> こころひらく -> Open Minded/Open Hearted
	心開きやすい -> Easily open hearted
基地-> きち -> Military Base
成長する -> せいちょうする -> To grow in size
奥さん -> おくさん -> Wife (When referring to somebody elses wife)
旦那さん -> だんなさん -> Husband (When referring to somebody elses husband)
見送る -> みおくる -> To send off, to see off
行ってきます -> いってきます -> I'm leaving
出かける -> でかける -> To Go Out
お帰りなさい -> おかえりなさい -> Welcome Back (Literally "Returned")
出迎える -> でむかえる -> To go to entrance, and welcome other person. 迎える with extra steps.
遅刻 -> ちこく -> Delay, behind time.
宿題 -> しゅくだい -> Homework

# すみませんでした -> Sorry/Excuse me
Used after a negative tense verb to show that we are sorry we are unable to do something.

Verb in て form + ,すみませんでした
	Note: be sure to conjugate the verb into negative if the verb needs to be negative. See example.
 パーティーへ行かなくて、すみませんでした
 I wasn't able to make it to the party, I'm sorry (Past tense)

## Examples
- 本をなくして、すみませんでした - I lost the book, I'm sorry
- デートに遅刻して、すみませんでした
	Note: If its your girlfriend, this is probably a bit formal. Not that we'd known.
- 宿題を持って来なくて、すみませんでした
